Course Description

When trauma involves early, repetitive abuse and neglect, followed by later adverse experiences, the outcome may be not only classic post-traumatic stress but also impaired self-reference, dysfunctional attachment schema, emotional dysregulation, and overdeveloped avoidance responses such as dissociation, substance abuse, self-injury and “impulsive” suicidality. Based on significant developments over the last 5-10 years, and his upcoming book, Dr. Briere will address modifications to cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and relational approaches to trauma, as well as COVID-based teletherapy adaptations, new options for intervening in distress reduction behaviors, further modifications to therapeutic exposure, and use of the ReGAIN mindfulness procedure.

There will be a morning and afternoon break and a break for lunch. At the end of the class you will need to take a post-test and receive a score of 75% or above to pass. You have up to three attempts to pass the post-test. Most people pass on their first attempt. After two attempts to pass the post-test you will need to contact our office and you will be provided with one more attempt to pass the post-test. The post-test will only be available at the end of the class. Once you pass the post-test, you will complete an evaluation online and then you will receive your Certificate of Attendance online, which you can view and print.
