Interjurisdictional Practice: Essentials for Providing Therapy Ethically and Legally Across State Lines

Conducting therapy legally and ethically across state lines continues to evolve, bringing with it the prospect of dramatically expanding the therapy landscape. These changes provide significant new opportunities for therapists. However, understanding and navigating the relevant federal and state laws, licensing rules, and codes of ethics can be a challenge for any therapist. This practical seminar will clearly explain essential issues, provide valuable resources, dispel common myths and misunderstandings, and walk participants through a variety of cross-state therapy scenarios. Participants will leave equipped to make determinations about when interjurisdictional practice is legal and ethical (and when it is not). This seminar is designed for all experience levels of counseling and mental health professionals and assumes a general knowledge of ethics, laws, and licensing rules.

This course meets the law and ethics requirement for many states. Please check the requirements of your state
