Emotional Well-Being

Emotions do not just happen to you - you can create your own emotions as tools. This training will teach the science of emotion and practical strategies for fostering and strengthening one’s own and other people’s emotional well-being. These strategies are critically important during the current COVID-19 pandemic as people struggle to deal with fear, stress, anger, and hopelessness. This class will cover what emotions are, what they are for, how they work, and how to leverage them to benefit one’s personal and interpersonal well-being. Grounded in the four principles of emotional intelligence, this course will share practical strategies for fostering emotional well-being through a series of research-backed exercises. These strategies include improving detection and accurate identification of emotion signals and expressions, optimally regulating emotions across different contexts and challenges, and leveraging emotions to guide healthy, goal-directed behaviors and improve the quality and effectiveness of communication.
